Assistant Environmental Manager / Environmental Officer

Lighthouse Caledonia is a leading independent producer of high quality Scottish salmon. The company is engaged in all stages of the value chain of farming Atlantic salmon from smolt production through to harvesting, processing, packing and sales. We are committed to high standards of animal welfare, sustainable operations and promoting a responsible environmental policy.

We are currently recruiting for two Environmental Department posts TO COVER MATERNITY LEAVE to be located at Cairndow, Argyll or Stornoway in Western Isles, or Strome at Lochcarron (but to cover all Lighthouse Caledonia sites throughout Scotland).

We are seeking outstanding individuals to play major roles in development and implementation of environmental policies. An excellent knowledge of current environmental principles and legislation and their application in the workplace is essential. The posts would be suitable for people currently working within the environmental sector but more importantly we are looking for individuals with the dedication to drive through achievable improvements in environmental sustainability.  

Assistant Environmental Manager – (Ref: AEM/CW/10/1)
(Salary £35,020 based on 40 hours per week)
We have a full time position, covering maternity leave (lasting approx 1 year). Reporting to the Environmental Manager, the position entails managing and maintaining the Company’s legislative compliance for the continuation of fish farming upon existing sites and future development of potential new sites. You will be required to manage and co-ordinate the Local Authority Planning Process development applications, to facilitate regular meetings with regulatory bodies (including SEPA), local government, authority and Crown Estate. To produce reports to a high standard and gather information required to make applications to regulatory bodies. You will also be required to liaise with contractors to ensure maintenance of all equipment relating to site surveys and H & S. To produce necessary documentation regarding budgetary and strategic objectives.


Environmental Officer – (Ref: EO/CW/10/2 )
(Salary £28,840 based on 40 hours per week)
We have a full time position, covering maternity leave (lasting approx 1 year). Reporting to the Environmental Manager,  the position is to manage and coordinate the transfer of all marine farm sites currently holding Crown Estate seabed leases to Local Authority Planning Controls (as per Scottish Government Review Process). The position also requires you to synchronise planning and planning reviews and produce reports to a high standard and gather information as required. Along with auditing, analysing, reporting and oral presentation of environmental applications to internal and external clients and regulatory bodies. In addition, to manage contractors operating within your area of control and liaise with departmental managers within the Lighthouse Caledonia.

A full, clean driving licence is also essential for both of the above positions.
